Invitation to Sleepless in Skagit & Family Promise Expansion Launch
On behalf of Family Promise of Skagit Valley, I would like to personally invite you to attend our annual Sleepless in Skagit event on Friday, July 24, 2026, from 5:30–8:00 PM. (Please see attached flyer for all the details.)
This special evening is a community-wide, family-friendly event designed to raise awareness about family and child homelessness in Skagit County. Participants are encouraged to spend the night anywhere other than their own bed to better understand the reality faced by nearly 1,400 children experiencing homelessness in Skagit County.
This year’s event is especially meaningful, as it will also serve as:
- Our Grand Re-Opening Celebration
- The multi-chamber ribbon cutting for our new Cottage Village initiative
- The public launch of Family Promise of North Sound
During the event, two completed cottages will be on-site and ready to welcome families who have successfully graduated from our shelter program. These homes are the first of 14 planned cottages that will provide safe, stable housing for families experiencing housing instability. Families living in the village will receive case management, life-skills training, and ongoing community support as they work toward long-term stability.
Affordable housing remains one of the most urgent challenges facing Skagit County and communities across Washington State, with local vacancy rates below 3%. Through this event, we hope to educate the public about the realities of family homelessness while raising critical funds for both our homelessness prevention program—which helps families remain safely housed before they ever experience homelessness—and our Cottage Village expansion.
We are also excited to share our vision for the future. Under the umbrella of Family Promise of North Sound, we hope to replicate our successful programs throughout Whatcom, Snohomish, Island, and San Juan counties, with the goal of serving more than 800 families annually by 2030.
We deeply value the partnership and support of our local and state leaders and would be honored by your presence at this important community event. Together, we can continue building solutions that create stability, dignity, and hope for families across our region.
